Well I am very happy that I finished another little bear for 2014. It has been a busy year for me with my little girl starting prep.  I thought I would have a lot more time on my hands but no it has been quite the opposite but saying that we have settled in to the routine and I have been able to finish off some bears finally.
This little beauty is called Buttercup and is now available for adoption.  You can find more details over on Bear Pile or the adoption page.

Lovely NEW Pandas all ready to go!

I packed up this little cutie today to mail off to her new home! Very very sweet, I think I will have to make one of these for myself and my little daughter who won't be happy once she realises she is missing:/  My little daughter has named her Princess Sophia! I will post some pics once she reaches her new mummy.  She was a custom order but I decided to make her a sister that is slightly different which I have just listed in my Etsy shop.  Her name is Cosmos.  I have posted a few pics below but for more details pop over to the Adoption page or to my Etsy shop.  There is a direct link over on the side bar on blog.
I really enjoyed making these two, I think I will definitely make some more, so in love.  Hope her new mummy loves her too:)

Fur Kids

I have been wanting to share what I have been working on the last couple of weeks but I can''s a custom order for one of my special likers and she might see;). I'm very excited about it though it's looking good, did I mention I'm excited.  I will keep you posted!

I decided to have a look through my photos and see what I could find to share with you.  I found this one.  These are my two fur babies, Levi (black and tan) and Annie (blenheim) They are a special part of our family, they are both getting on in age but are just so special.  I haven't really shared this before but the name Bosley I use for my business name was the name of my first little dog.  He looked exactly like Levi.  He went to heaven far too early and my way of always remembering him was to name my little bear business after him.  Miss him dearly.

It's nice to have a change sometimes!

Have you noticed anything different?

I am running out of the beautiful fabric that I use to make bags that I send bears to their new homes in and I have been searching for something similar and couldn't find anything.  I am also getting low on birth certificates and business cards.  Then it happened I set eyes on some fabric I really liked didn't match anything.  So that was it I decided to have a change.

This is the fabric that started it......

So my lovely brother has redesigned my blog and I will be updating everything else to match.  oohh very exciting.  I love my new design what do you think?

I also decided to close my webpage and just focus on my blog, so everything will be here on my blog from here on in:) I am hoping that with just the blog and facebook it will be a bit easier to keep up with.  I hope you like my new blog and that you will pop in visit often.

You will find a few new pages on here including a tutorial page which I have just added a great tutorial on making moulds for Fimo or Sculpey noses.  I hope you find it useful:)

I have quite a few more tutorials in the works, so if you want to keep up to date please join my email list or facebook etc for regular updates.  I would love for you to join me!
Have a lovely day!

DIY Handpainted Eyes

Hi Everyone, I have decided that I would start sharing with you all some of the techniques I use in my bear making.  Sharing is caring right:)
I have decided as I am making my bears I would start taking photos of what I am doing and share them with you.  I don't claim to have invented any of these techniques because most of what I do I have learnt from books or online, but I always put my own tweaks on things, experiment and learn from the mistakes I make.  So by sharing with you, you can do the same thing, learn, experiment and put your tweaks on things, so here goes.  I'm starting with hand painted eyes, let me know if you have any further questions or if there is something else I can help you with.  Cheers!

Hand Painted Eyes

You will need -

  • Different coloured nail polish's including black
  • Forceps
  • Strong needle
  • Nail polish remover and cotton wool or ready to use wipes (I use these they are much easier)
  • Some clear glass eyes

Clamp the forceps onto the wire loop of the eye and paint the back of the eyes.
I really like using black as my first colour but you can use whatever you like.
Wait for the paint to go a tacky but not dry! Then start scraping the paint off in strokes from the middle to the outside of the eye using the eye end of the needle.  If you wait for the paint to dry it will chip off in chunks and you won't have the nice little lines.
Wait a little bit for it too dry a bit more and then add another coat, maybe a glitter colour if you like a sparkly eye!  Wait for it to go tacky and then start scraping again as with the first coat.
Now you can continue adding colours as you please, just keep going until you are
happy with the ways your eyes look.
I like to put colours on in this order - Black, Glitter and then a plain matching colour.
When you are happy with the colour clean up the front and sides of the eyes with the nail polish wipes, or nail polish remover and cotton wool.
If you mess it up don't worry just clean it off with nail polish remover and start again.
Hint: you will find when you paint over a previous layer it softens it up therefore you can blend in the colours and change it a bit if you aren't happy with the way it looks.
I also do the same to each eye at the same time other wise I end up with mismatched eyes.
I love blue eyes but your imagination is the limit, there are so many colours that you can buy other than pink and red.  Try brown, or green!

 Have fun!

What will 2014 bring?

I have been super busy over the Christmas and New Year Period, working more than usual at my job and preparing for my precious little girl to go off to school.  So because of all that I haven't had much time over the last few months to do much bear making but I am ready to get into it now, happy dance....
I have lots of plans for 2014, and have a few very exciting things happening which I will tell you about as they happen, don't want to jinx myself.

This is what is on my table today.  I am multi tasking.........

  • One minky bear that would really like his face to be completed & maybe some shaded paw pads.
  • A big bundle of bone and white fluffly mink bear bits that are almost finished being sewn together.
  •  A couple of pieces of fabric and ribbon that will be one Christening bear and one 1st Birthday bear.
  • And a pile of half finished Bosley Bear gift bags.

I have a rather long list of things I would like to do in 2014 but a few things I am hoping to do is design some new little mohair bears with the idea of sharing some of the patterns with you.  I am going to try and blog and facebook a little bit more, and maybe even get to some local craft fairs, and maybe even enter a competition......mmmmm.....lots of ideas..........not enough time:)

I am looking forward to 2014.......bring it on!!

oh and just before I go I thought I would share this little cutie with you.  I finished him the week before Christmas, he was a custom order, I only just made it for Chrissy...phew..
